Investing in the Future of Nursing

The Bay Area Indian Nurses Association (BAINA) Scholarship Program invests in the future of nursing by supporting nursing students, registered nurses, and advanced practice professionals through scholarships that promote education, leadership, community service, and professional growth.

Our goal is to reduce educational barriers while developing compassionate, culturally responsive healthcare leaders who will positively impact the communities they serve.

Scholarship Opportunities

BAINA Future Nurse Scholarship $750

Supports undergraduate nursing students pursuing foundational nursing education.

Eligible Pathways
  • LVN to RN
  • ADN to BSN
  • RN to BSN
  • BSN to MSN

Ideal for students demonstrating academic commitment, resilience, financial need, and volunteer service.

Emerging Nurse Leader Scholarship $450

Supports graduate nursing students and healthcare professionals pursuing advanced education and leadership.

Eligible Pathways: MSN–DNP, ADN–DNP, NP/PA, CRNA, CNS, Nursing Leadership, Nursing Education, Informatics, Public Health, and Professional Clinical Certification

Applicants should demonstrate leadership, research, quality improvement, innovation, or advocacy.

Nursing Conference, Community Impact & Evidence-Based Practice Scholarship $300

Supports projects and professional development that advance nursing practice and improve community health.

Examples include: Professional nursing conferences, Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) projects, community health fairs, CPR and wellness education, preventive health initiatives, cultural health.

Eligibility for all Scholarships

Applicants must:

  • Be an active BAINA member
  • Be a nursing student, RN, or advanced practice professional
  • Have a recommended minimum 3.0 GPA (hardship considerations may apply)
  • Demonstrate leadership, volunteerism, or community engagement
  • Attend the BAINA Annual Gala (November 14, 2026) if selected

Priority consideration is given to applicants actively involved in BAINA programs and events.

Application Requirements

Applications must include:

  1. Complete application form
  2. Current résumé/CV
  3. Official or unofficial transcripts
  4. Two professional letters of recommendation
  5. Financial Need & Resilience Statement (Optional)

Personal Essay (300 words maximum per question)

Applicants must answer all 3 questions:

  1. How do you plan to impact your community through healthcare?
  2. How have your cultural experiences shaped your approach to patient care?
  3. How have you grown professionally as a nurse, and how have your contributions positively impacted your patients, colleagues, workplace, or nursing specialty?

Selection Criteria

Applications are evaluated using a standardized rubric approved by the BAINA Executive Board and Governing Board.

Transcript review, professional commitment, rigor of educational path, and consistency.
Leadership & Service

Active engagement in professional advocacy, clinical leadership roles, or nursing organizations.
Personal Essay

Clarity of thought, structural delivery, alignment with core nursing values, and vision.
Community Engagement
25%
Measurable volunteer history, participation in health fairs, and outreach (weighted preference for BAINA initiatives).
Financial Need / Resilience
Consideration given
Evaluation of socio-economic barriers overcome, first-generation status, or structural hardships.
